There are moments in youth work that feel bigger than an event, they feel like a shift.

The launch of our new program TRAPPED was one of those moments.

We are proud to announce that TRAPPED, a powerful live theatre and mentorship experience under Topowa Youth Mentoring Uganda, has officially begun its school tour journey, with its first impactful stop at Naalya SS Bweyogerere Campus.

TRAPPED is a live theatre and mentorship experience designed to confront the real struggles young people face in schools and communities today in relation to drug and substance abuse.

At its core, TRAPPED is built around one powerful idea:small choices can lead to life changing consequences.

Unlike traditional classroom talks, TRAPPED brings issues to life through storytelling, emotion, and real-life inspired drama. It combines performance and guided reflection to help students see themselves in the story.

The Program Blends Three Powerful Elements:

1. Guided Reflection & Counselling Session

2. Live Theatrical DramaTRAPPED a gripping stage performance that reflects real student life friendships, pressure from peers, curiosity, rebellion, and the silent battles many young people go through. The characters and storylines are intentionally designed to feel familiar, raw, and relatable.

3. Life Skills & Decision-Making ConversationsThe final layer of TRAPPED focuses on practical life skills how to handle peer pressure, how to say no without losing friendships, how to manage emotions, and how to make informed decisions about substances, relationships, and personal goals.

Our first tour session at Naalya SS Bweyogerere Campus marked the beginning of a bold movement aimed at reshaping how young people understand peer pressure, substance abuse, and decision-making.

Students were taken through an immersive experience that combined:

  • A gripping, real-life inspired drama performance

  • An interactive counselling and reflection session

  • Honest conversations about pressure, choices, and consequences

From the first scene of the drama to the final discussion, the hall carried a strong emotional energy silence during key moments, deep reflection during discussions, and powerful student engagement throughout.

Launching at Naalya SS Bweyogerere Campus set the tone for what TRAPPED is becoming: a youth-centered, emotionally honest, and highly engaging program that doesn’t just lecture, it connects.

Teachers, facilitators, and students all played a role in making the session powerful. The feedback was clear: young people are not just listening, they are feeling, reflecting, and responding.

This is just the beginning.

The TRAPPED school tour will continue reaching more institutions, sparking conversations, and building a generation of young people who are more aware, more grounded, and more intentional about their choices.

We are excited for what lies ahead as we continue this journey of impact, storytelling, and transformation.
