Celebrating Growth, Discipline, and Purpose at the NextGen Closeout

Topowa Next Gen is a dynamic mentorship and skills development program designed specifically for vacists transitioning from school into real life.

The program bridges the gap between classroom learning and the realities of adulthood, equipping young people with essential life skills, leadership competencies, and employability tools needed to thrive in today’s world.

This first edition of Topowa Next Gen has been a truly transformative journey. Students undertook structured training and mentorship across 13 peer education modules, gaining first-hand exposure to critical areas such as transitioning into adulthood, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), mental health and substance abuse prevention, and core life skills.

Through these sessions, students were guided to better understand themselves, their values, their choices, and their responsibilities as young adults.

Over four impactful weeks, students engaged in interactive learning sessions, group mentorship discussions, projects, and presentations. These experiences created a safe and empowering space where participants could interact openly, ask questions, learn from one another, and receive guidance from peers and facilitators. This holistic approach enabled them to gain clarity, confidence, and purpose as they prepare for university, vocational training, or entry into the world of work.

Topowa Next Gen is not the end of the journey for these young people, it is the beginning of a more intentional and empowered life. At Topowa Youth Mentoring Uganda, we remain committed to inspiring, motivating, and equipping young people with the knowledge, training, and mentorship they need to make responsible and informed life choices.

As our pioneers receive their certificates, we emphasize that this certificate is not just a piece of paper. It is a testament to their hard work, discipline, resilience, growth and willingness to learn. It represents the effort they put in, the courage it took to show up consistently, and the personal transformation they have undergone. We strongly believe that they are stepping into the world as better, more self-aware, and more responsible individuals.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the parents and guardians who supported this journey. Thank you for believing in your children and for trusting us to mentor and guide them. Your encouragement, sacrifices, and active participation made a meaningful difference. By walking alongside your children, you did not only support their growth you became partners and pioneers of change.

As these young people step forward, we are immensely proud of their growth and resilience. We believe they will emerge as positive change-makers in their homes, schools, and communities, carrying forward the values, skills, and purpose nurtured through the Topowa Next Gen Program.
